答：道德律對所有的人都有用處，
（1）告訴他們上帝聖潔的屬性和旨意（利11:44－45；利20:7－8；羅7:12）；
（2）告訴他們當盡的責任，並約束他們必須遵行（彌6:8；雅2:10－11）；
（3）使他們知道自己沒有能力遵行，認識到自己的性情、心靈和生命都受到了罪的污染（詩19:11－12；羅3:20；7:7）；
（4）使他們意識到自己的罪和痛苦，從而謙卑自己（羅3:9，23）；
（5）由此幫助他們更加清楚地認識到對基督的需要（加3:21－22），對基督的完全順服的需要（羅10:4）。

詩19:11－12； 況且你的僕人因此受警戒，守着這些便有大賞。 誰能知道自己的錯失呢？願你赦免我隱而未現的過錯。
羅3:9，20，23這卻怎麼樣呢？我們比他們強嗎？決不是的！因我們已經證明：猶太人和希臘人都在罪惡之下。 所以凡有血氣的，沒有一個因行律法能在 神面前稱義，因為律法本是叫人知罪。
因為世人都犯了罪，虧缺了 神的榮耀；
羅7:7這樣，我們可說什麼呢？律法是罪嗎？斷乎不是！只是非因律法，我就不知何為罪。非律法說，「不可起貪心」，我就不知何為貪心。
羅7:12這樣看來，律法是聖潔的，誡命也是聖潔、公義、良善的。
羅10:4律法的總結就是基督，使凡信他的都得着義。

Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
[406] Psalm 19:11-12. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Romans 3:20. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 7:7. What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
[407] Romans 3:9, 23. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.... For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
[408] Galatians 3:21-22. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
[409] Romans 10:4. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
