30問：上帝任憑全人類在罪惡和愁苦中滅亡嗎？
答：不是。全人類都落入罪惡和愁苦中（帖前5:9），是因為第一個約被違背了，即通常所說的行為之約（加3:10，12）；但上帝並沒有任憑他們都在這一狀態中滅亡；相反，惟獨出於祂的慈愛和憐憫，藉著第二個約，即通常 所說的恩典之約，把祂的選民從中救拔出來，帶領他們進入得救的狀態（多3:4－7；加3:21；羅3:20－22）。

帖前5:9 因為 神不是預定我們受刑，乃是預定我們藉着我們主耶穌基督得救。
加3:10 凡以行律法為本的，都是被咒詛的；因為經上記着：「凡不常照律法書上所記一切之事去行的，就被咒詛。」
加3:12 律法原不本乎信，只說：「行這些事的，就必因此活着。」
多3:4-7 但到了 神我們救主的恩慈和他向人所施的慈愛顯明的時候，他便救了我們，並不是因我們自己所行的義，乃是照他的憐憫，藉着重生的洗和聖靈的更新。聖靈就是 神藉着耶穌基督我們救主厚厚澆灌在我們身上的，好叫我們因他的恩得稱為義，可以憑着永生的盼望成為後嗣(或作「可以憑着盼望承受永生」)。
