第六章 論人的墮落、罪惡和刑罰

一、我們的始祖，因被撒但的狡智與試探所誘惑，就吃了禁果而犯罪1。然而神願意按照他的智慧與聖潔的計劃，為了配合自己的榮耀，就准許他們（所犯的）這個罪2。
二、因此罪使他們從原始之義，並與神的交往上墮落了3，於是死在罪中4，並且靈魂和身體的一切才能與各部份都完全玷污了5。
三、始祖既為全人類的根源6，此罪的孽就歸給他們的後裔，並且在罪中之死與敗壞的天性，就遺傳給他們所生出的子孫7。
四、從這個原始的敗壞中，生出一切的現行過犯8（即本身所犯的罪）；由於此敗壞性，我們對一切的善全然避忌9，無能為力，且反對之，完全傾向邪惡10。
五、此種天性的敗壞，在今生的時候，仍存留在那些已蒙重生之人的裡面11。此敗壞性雖然借著基督得赦免，而被克服，但其本身並它所有的活動實在是罪12。
六、凡是罪（不拘原罪抑或本罪）就干犯神公義的律法，也是違背神的律法13，在其本性上就將罪責歸給罪人14，為了這個緣故就遭受神的忿怒15，與律法的咒詛16，如此服在死權之下17，受精神的18、暫時的19，與永遠的一切痛苦20。

第六章 論 人的墮落、罪與刑罰
一．我們的始祖被撒 但的詭計和試探誘惑，吃禁果而犯罪（創3:13；林後11:3）。上 帝既特意要使祂自己得榮耀，就按自己所喜悅的，照祂智慧和聖潔的計劃，准許這罪的發生（羅11:32）。
二．因為犯了這罪，他們就從原初的公義以及與上帝的相交中墮落了（創3:6－8；傳7:29；羅3:23），並且，因此而死在罪中（創2:17；弗2:1），身體、靈魂的各個部分和一切能力都被玷污了（多1:15；創6:5；耶17:9；羅3:10-18）。
三． 他們既是全人類的根源（創1:27－28；2:16-17； 徒17:26；羅5:12，15－19；林前15:21-22,49），這罪債就歸算在他們藉常例而生的後裔身上，而罪中之死，以及敗壞的性情，也同樣傳遞給了他們（詩51:5；創5:3；伯14:4；15:14）。
四． 這原初的敗壞使我們完全不傾向善，也完全不能行善，而是與善完全對立（羅5:6；7:18；8:7；西1:21），一心傾向邪惡（創6:5；8:21； 羅3:10－12），由此就生出一切本罪（雅1:14－15；弗2:2－3；太15:19）。
五．這種人性的敗壞，今生仍然殘留那些已經重生的人裡面（約壹1:8，10；羅7:14，17，18，23；雅 3:2；箴20:9；傳7:20）；雖然借著基督得蒙赦 免，受到克制，可是它本身及其一切所欲仍然是真正的罪（羅7:5，7，8，25；加5:17）。
六． 每個罪，無論是原罪，還是本罪，都違背上帝公義的律法（約壹3:4），與上帝的律法完全對 立，在其本性上就將罪債歸在罪人身上（羅2:15；3:9，19），他 因此當受上帝的忿怒（弗2:3）、律法的咒詛（加3:10），並已經處於其 中，因而處於死亡以及其它各樣愁苦的轄制之下（羅6:23），既有靈魂的（弗4:18），也有身體的（羅8:20；哀3:39），既有現世的，也有永世的（太 25:41；帖後1:9）。

1. Our first parents, being seduced by the subtlety and temptation of Satan, sinned, in eating the forbidden fruit. This their sin, God was pleased, according to his wise and holy counsel, to permit, having purposed to order it to his own glory.

ROM 7:18 For I know that in me(that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. [9] GEN 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 8:21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. [10] JAM 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. JAM 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. PRO 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? ECC 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. GAL 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
[13] 1JO 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
[14] ROM 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.
