第八章 論中保基督

  一、神按他永遠的旨意,選定他的獨生子主耶穌,作神人之間的中保1;為先知2、祭司3,和君王4,教會的元首和救主5,承受萬有的6,審判世界的7,神從永遠就將百姓賜給他為後裔8,而且到了時候,借着他得贖、蒙召、稱義,成聖並得榮9。


  二、神的兒子,三位一體中的第二位,既是惟一永遠的神,與父同質同等,及至日期滿足的時候,就取人性10,連人性所具有的一切本質,和共有的軟弱於己身,只是無罪11;他借聖靈的大能,在童貞女馬利亞的胎中用她的本質成孕12。所以完整無缺,而又是相異的二性,即神性與人性,毫無轉化,合成或混合,不可分地結合於一位格之內13。這位就是真神真人,卻是一位基督,神人間的惟一中保14。


  三、主耶穌既如此在人性與神性上聯結,就受無限量之聖靈的潔淨與恩膏15;既在他裡面有智慧和知識的一切寶藏16,父就喜歡叫一切的豐富住在他裡面17。其目的乃是借着他的聖潔、無惡、無玷污,並所充滿的恩典和真理18,使他得以全備,以便執行中保和保證人的職份19。這職份並不是他自己取來的,乃是蒙父召而任此職20,父把一切的權柄和審判交在他手中,並且命令執行之21。


  四、主耶穌極其樂意擔任這職份22;為了執行這職份,所以他生在律法之下23,而且完全成就了律法24,在他的靈魂里直接忍受了最大的痛苦25,在□的身體中受了極疼痛的苦楚26,被釘而死27;被埋葬,暫處於死權之下,但未見朽壞28。第三天他帶着受苦時的同一身體29從死里復活30;又帶身體升入高天,坐在他父的右邊31,為我們代求32;並要在世界的末了,再來審判世人和天使33。


  五、主耶穌憑他完全的順服並犧牲自己,借永遠的靈一次獻給神,來完全滿足他父的公義34;為父所賜給他的人非但獲得和好,也獲得天國永遠的基業35。


  六、救贖之工雖未在基督成肉身之前實際完成,但救贖的實力、效果與利益,卻從世界之初借着那些應許、預表,與祭物繼續傳給歷代神所揀選的人;在這些應許、預表和祭物中,他被顯明為擊破蛇頭的女人後裔,是從創世以來被殺的羔羊,是昨日、今日、以後永在的基督36。


  七、基督按着他的神人二性,來執行他為中保的工作;借每一性作其固有的事37,但有時在聖經中,由於基督位格的一致性,所以他位格中的此一性固有的事,也歸屬於彼一性38。


  八、基督對那些得蒙救贖的人,就確實地、有效地將這救贖應用在他們身上並傳達給他們39;為他們代求40,借聖道將救恩的奧秘啟示給他們41;借着他的靈有效地勸勉他們相信而順服;借着他的道和他的靈來管理他們的心42;借着他的全能全智,來勝過他們的一切仇敵,而且所用的方式與他奇妙莫測的旨意相合43。

第八章 論中保基督

一.上帝按祂自己所喜悅的,照祂永恆的旨意,選定祂的獨生子主耶穌作上帝與人之間惟一的中保(賽42:1;彼前1:19,20;約3:16;提前2:5);為先知(徒3:22)、祭司(來5:5,6)和君王(詩2:6;路1:33),教會的頭和救主(弗5:23),萬有的承受者(來1:2),和世界的審判者(徒17:31);上帝在永世中便將一群人賜給祂作後裔(約17:6;詩22:30;賽53:10),而且到了時候,就使他們由祂得贖、蒙召、稱義、成聖並得榮(提前2:6;賽55:4-5;林前1:30)。


二.上帝的兒子,三一上帝的第二位格,既是真實和永恆的上帝,與父同質同等,當日期滿足的時候,就取了人性(約1:1,14;約壹5:20;腓2:6;加4:4)及其諸般基本的稟賦和共有的軟弱,只是沒有罪(來2:14,16-17;4:15);所以,祂因着聖靈的權能,在童貞女馬利亞腹中成孕,從她取了人性 (路1:27,31,35;加4:4)。因此,完整無缺卻又截然不同的神人二性,不可分離地聯合在一個位格裡面,不相轉化,不相混合,不相混亂(路1:35;西2:9;羅9:5;彼前3:18;提前3:16)。這一位格是真正的上帝,也是真正的人,但只是一個基督,是上帝與人之間惟一的中保(羅1:3,4;提前2:5)。


三.主耶穌,在祂這樣與神性聯合的人性中,分別為聖,無限量地受聖靈的恩膏(詩45:7;約3:34);所積蓄的一切智慧和知識,都在祂裡面藏着(西2:3),父按祂自己的美意,叫一切的豐盛都居住在祂裡面(西1:19);好叫祂既是聖潔,無邪惡,無玷污,滿有恩典和真理(來7:26;約1:14),便可全備地執行中保的職分(徒10:38;來12:24;7:22)。這職分不是祂自己取來的,乃是蒙父所召(來5:4-5),父將一切權柄和審判的權力都交在祂手裡,並且授權祂去執行(約5:22,27;太28:18;徒2:36)。


四.主耶穌完全甘心樂意地擔任這一職分(詩40:7,8;來10:5-10;約10:18;腓2:8);為要執行這一職分,祂就生在律法之下(加4:4),並確確實實地成全了律法(太3:15:5:17);靈魂遭受極大的傷痛(太26:37,38;路22:44;太27:46),身體遭受極大的苦楚(太26,27),被釘死在十字架上(腓2:8);被埋葬,處於死亡的權勢之下,但未見朽壞(徒2:23,24,27;13:37;羅6:9)。第三天,祂從死里復活(林前15:3,4),帶着原來受苦的身體(約20:25,27),也帶着這身體升到天上,坐在祂父的右邊(可16:19),為我們代求(羅8:34;來9:24;7:25),並在世界的末了還要再來審判世人和天使(羅14:9-10;徒1:11;10:42;太13:40-42;猶6;彼後2:4)。


五.主耶穌把祂那完全的順服和自我的犧牲,藉永恆之靈,一次獻給上帝,便完全滿足了祂父的公義(羅5:19;來9:14,16;10:14;弗5:2;羅3:25,26),不僅為父所賜給祂的人買贖了和好,也買贖了天國永恆的基業(但9:24,26;西1:19,20;弗1:11,14;約17:2;來9:12,15)。


六.雖然救贖之工要到基督道成肉身以後才由祂施行,但是其功德、果效和惠益,卻都在那些應許、預表和獻祭中,而且藉着它們,從世界起始以來便在歷代之中賜給選民了;這些應許、預表和獻祭,啟示並表明祂就是那擊碎蛇頭的女人的後裔,是那自世界之初就被殺的羔羊,因為祂昨日、今日、一直到永遠都是一樣的(加4:4-5;創3:15;啟13:8;來13:8)。


七.基督按照其神人二性,執行祂中保的工作;每一性都作其分內的事(來9:14;彼前3:18);但因其位格的同一性,所以聖經有時將同一位格中那屬於此一性的歸之於另一性(徒20:28;約3:13;約壹3:16)。

八.對於那些已由祂代為買回了救贖的人,基督肯定會有效地將此救贖實施並傳遞給他們(約6:37,39;10:15,16)。基督為他們代求(約壹2:1,2;羅8:34),在道中並藉着道向他們啟示救恩的奧秘(約15:13,15;弗1:7-9;約17:6);用祂的靈有效地說服他們相信並順服;用祂的道和靈管理他們的心(約14:16;17:17;來12:2;林後4:13,羅8:9,14 ;15:18-19;);用祂的全能全智勝過他們一切的仇敵,而且所用的方式完全與祂奇妙莫測的旨意相合(詩110:1;林前15:25,26;瑪4 :2,3;西2:15)。

8.5 主耶穌以完全的順服與獻上自己為祭,藉著永遠的靈一次獻 上給上帝,完全滿足父上帝的公義﹔他付出贖價,使父所賜給他 的人,不只是得以與神和好,並且也得著天國永遠的基業

8.6 救贖之工雖然尚未在基督道成肉身之前實際完成,但救贖的 權能、效果、益處,卻藉著那些應許、預表、祭物,從創世以來 繼續傳給上帝在歷世歷代的選民﹔那些應許、預表、祭物,啟示 與指明基督就是那打破蛇頭的女人後裔,是從創世以來被殺的羔 羊。他從昨日、今日、一直到永遠是不改變的。

8.7 基督執行中保的職分,是按照祂的神人二性。每一屬性作其 本性的事;然而,由於基督位格的合一性,在《聖經》中有時會 將一屬性的作為,歸屬於另一屬性所描述的位格名稱。

8.8 基督對那些祂所買贖的人,是確實而有效地將這救贖施行於 他們,傳達給他們﹔祂為他們代求,在聖道中且藉著聖道,將救 恩的奧秘啟示給他們﹔藉著祂的靈,有效地勸服他們相信且順 從﹔藉著祂的道和祂的靈管理他們的心﹔藉著祂的全能全智,勝 過他們的一切仇敵,而且所用的方式是按照祂奇妙莫測的旨意安 排。

CHAPTER 8 OF CHRIST THE MEDIATOR

1. It pleased God, in his eternal purpose, to choose and ordain the Lord Jesus, his only begotten Son, to be the Mediator between God and man, the Prophet, Priest, and King, the Head and Savior of his church, the Heir of all things, and Judge of the world: unto whom he did from all eternity give a people, to be his seed, and to be by him in time redeemed, called, justified, sanctified, and glorified.

2. The Son of God, the second person in the Trinity, being very and eternal God, of one substance and equal with the Father, did, when the fullness of time was come, take upon him man's nature, with all the essential properties, and common infirmities thereof, yet without sin; being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the womb of the virgin Mary, of her substance. So that two whole, perfect, and distinct natures, the Godhead and the manhood, were inseparably joined together in one person, without conversion, composition, or confusion. Which person is very God, and very man, yet one Christ, the only Mediator between God and man.

3. The Lord Jesus, in his human nature thus united to the divine, was sanctified, and anointed with the Holy Spirit, above measure, having in him all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge; in whom it pleased the Father that all fullness should dwell; to the end that, being holy, harmless, undefiled, and full of grace and truth, he might be thoroughly furnished to execute the office of a mediator, and surety. Which office he took not unto himself, but was thereunto called by his Father, who put all power and judgment into his hand, and gave him commandment to execute the same.

4. This office the Lord Jesus did most willingly undertake; which that he might discharge, he was made under the law, and did perfectly fulfill it; endured most grievous torments immediately in his soul, and most painful sufferings in his body; was crucified, and died, was buried, and remained under the power of death, yet saw no corruption. On the third day he arose from the dead, with the same body in which he suffered, with which also he ascended into heaven, and there sitteth at the right hand of his Father, making intercession, and shall return, to judge men and angels, at the end of the world.

5. The Lord Jesus, by his perfect obedience, and sacrifice of himself, which he, through the eternal Spirit, once offered up unto God, hath fully satisfied the justice of his Father; and purchased, not only reconciliation, but an everlasting inheritance in the kingdom of heaven, for all those whom the Father hath given unto him.

6. Although the work of redemption was not actually wrought by Christ till after his incarnation, yet the virtue, efficacy, and benefits thereof were communicated unto the elect, in all ages successively from the beginning of the world, in and by those promises, types, and sacrifices, wherein he was revealed, and signified to be the seed of the woman which should bruise the serpent's head; and the Lamb slain from the beginning of the world; being yesterday and today the same, and forever.

7. Christ, in the work of mediation, acts according to both natures, by each nature doing that which is proper to itself; yet, by reason of the unity of the person, that which is proper to one nature is sometimes in Scripture attributed to the person denominated by the other nature.

8. To all those for whom Christ hath purchased redemption, he doth certainly and effectually apply and communicate the same; making intercession for them, and revealing unto them, in and by the Word, the mysteries of salvation; effectually persuading them by his Spirit to believe and obey, and governing their hearts by his Word and Spirit; overcoming all their enemies by his almighty power and wisdom, in such manner, and ways, as are most consonant to his wonderful and unsearchable dispensation.

Of Christ the Mediator

I. 約 1:1,14 太初有道,道與 神同在,道就是 神。 約 1:2 這道太初與 神同在。 約 1:14 道成了肉身,住在我們中間,充充滿滿地有恩典有真理。我們也見過他的榮光,正是父獨生子的榮光。

約一 5:20 我們也知道 神的兒子已經來到,且將智慧賜給我們,使我們認識那位真實的,我們也在那位真實的裡面,就是在他兒子耶穌基督裡面。這是真神,也是永生。

[25] MAT 26:37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
