第二十八章 論洗禮

一、洗禮乃耶穌基督所制定的新約聖禮1，非但為嚴肅承認受洗者的加入有形教會2，且亦對他表明並印證恩約3，與基督聯合4、重生5、赦罪6，借耶穌基督將他自己奉獻給神，行事為人有新生的樣式7，此聖禮乃基督親自指定，應在教會中繼續，直到世界的末了8。
二、在此聖禮中所用的外部物質為水，正式蒙召的福音使者，當奉父、子，和聖靈的名給受洗者施洗9。
三、在受洗者頭上澆水或灑水就是正當地施行洗禮，無須將受洗者浸入水中10。
四、非但實際承認相信並順服基督者當受洗11，而且相信之父母的一方或雙方的嬰孩，也當受洗12。
五、輕視或忽略洗禮，雖為大罪13，但恩典與救恩和洗禮並無不可分之關係，以致人不受洗就不能重生得救14，或凡受洗者無疑都重生了15。
六、洗禮的效果並不繫於洗禮執行的瞬間16；然而，若正當使用此禮，聖靈非但將所應許的恩典提供給他們，而且也按着神自己美意的計劃，在他指定的時間，向所應領受此恩典的人（不拘老幼）實際顯明之並授予之17。
七、洗禮對任何人只執行一次18。

第二十八章 論洗禮
一．洗禮是由耶穌 基督設立的新約聖禮（太28:19），不僅是為嚴肅地 接納受洗者進入有形的教會（林前12:13），而且對他乃是一 種記號和印證，以表明恩典之約（羅4:11同西2:11-12）， 與基督的聯合（加3:27；羅6:5），重生（多3:5），罪得赦免（可1:4），和他借着耶穌基督將自己奉獻給上帝，行事為人有新生的樣式（羅6:3-4）；基督親自指定這聖禮應在教會中繼續，直到世界的末了（太28:19-20）。
二．此聖禮所用的外表物質為水，藉此受洗者由合乎聖經蒙召的牧師，奉 父、子、聖靈的名施洗（太3:11；約1:33；太28:19，20）。

四．不僅凡是宣認信仰並順服基督的人（可16:15-16；徒8:37-38），而且凡是父母雙方或一方為信徒的嬰孩，都應受洗（創17:7，9；加 3:9，14；西2:11-12；徒2:38-39；羅4:11-12；林前7:14；太28:19；可10:13－ 16；路18:15）。
五．藐視或忽略洗禮，乃是大罪（路7:30；出 4:24－26）；但恩典與拯救並非不可分割地與此禮聯 系，以至於沒有它便無人能重生或得救（羅4:11；徒10:2，4，22，31，45，47），或是凡受過洗者都無疑重生了（徒8:13，23）。
六．雖然洗禮的功效並不維繫於施行時的瞬間（約3:5，8）；但是，人若正當地使用此禮，聖靈就藉此對凡照着上帝的旨意應得那所應許之恩典的人（無論老幼）， 在祂所指定的時候，不僅將此恩典放在他們面前，而且實在地賜給他 們（加3:27； 多3:5；弗5:25-26；徒2:38，41）。
七． 不論對任何人，洗禮只宜施行一次（多3:5）。

CHAPTER 28 OF BAPTISM
1. Baptism is a sacrament of the new testament, ordained by Jesus Christ, not only for the solemn admission of the party baptized into the visible church; but also, to be unto him a sign and seal of the covenant of grace, of his ingrafting into Christ, of regeneration, of remission of sins, and of his giving up unto God, through Jesus Christ, to walk in newness of life. Which sacrament is, by Christ's own appointment, to be continued in his church until the end of the world.
2. The outward element to be used in this sacrament is water, wherewith the party is to be baptized, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, by a minister of the gospel, lawfully called thereunto.
3. Dipping of the person into the water is not necessary; but baptism is rightly administered by pouring, or sprinkling water upon the person.
4. Not only those that do actually profess faith in and obedience unto Christ, but also the infants of one, or both, believing parents, are to be baptized.
5. Although it be a great sin to contemn or neglect this ordinance, yet grace and salvation are not so inseparably annexed unto it, as that no person can be regenerated, or saved, without it; or, that all that are baptized are undoubtedly regenerated.
6. The efficacy of baptism is not tied to that moment of time wherein it is administered; yet, notwithstanding, by the right use of this ordinance, the grace promised is not only offered, but really exhibited, and conferred, by the Holy Ghost, to such (whether of age or infants) as that grace belongeth unto, according to the counsel of God's own will, in his appointed time.
7. The sacrament of baptism is but once to be administered unto any person.

I. ACT 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
[12] GEN 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. 9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. GAL 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. ROM 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. 1CO 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. MAT 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. MAR 10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. [13] LUK 7:30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him. EXO 4:24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. 25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. 26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
[14] ROM 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also. ACT 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. 4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. 22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. 31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
